The client was undertaking the construction of a new Passive House and wanted the interior design to move away from the typically “ultra-modern” aesthetic often associated with contemporary architectural builds. Instead, the brief focused on creating a kitchen that felt understated, refined, and timeless — balancing simplicity with a sense of warmth and quiet luxury. Initially, the client envisioned a bright white kitchen; however, through the design development process, it became clear that an all-white palette lacked the depth and character needed to complement the architecture and create a more inviting atmosphere. The scheme therefore evolved into a softer, more layered material palette, introducing tonal variation and tactile finishes to retain the clean, minimalist aesthetic while adding warmth, texture, and visual interest. The final concept combines light greige cabinetry, natural oak finishes, marble surfaces, and polished concrete flooring to create a calm and cohesive space that feels both contemporary and enduring.
